White Noise Design Studio has meticulously crafted a sanctuary that seamlessly blends the family’s metropolitan sophistication with the serene beauty of Hawaii’s coastline, promising a timeless and enduring beauty.
Every cosmopolitan family dreams of a home that embodies a slice of serenity amidst the fast-paced urban landscape. This family, residing in a chic penthouse in New York City, embraces a vibrant and dynamic lifestyle but yearns for a sanctuary that goes beyond the city’s relentless hustle and bustle. How do they reconcile their taste for luxury with a desire for simplicity and calmness for the senses?

The quest becomes about blending their sophisticated urban lifestyle with a sense of tranquility and connection to nature, creating a peaceful retreat that offers a refreshing contrast to their everyday surroundings.

Perched along Hawaii’s stunning coastline, ‘OneOcean’ is a holiday home that seamlessly merges the family’s metropolitan sophistication with the serene beauty of the island. It offers a peaceful escape from the fast-paced urban lifestyle, allowing them to unwind and indulge in their Hawaiian retreat.

Designed by Sanjana Paramhans, Utsav Shah, Rddhima Golyan, and Shruti Sridhar of White Noise Design Studio, this 4,000-squarefoot vacation home captures the essence of Hawaiian architecture. The building effortlessly interacts with its lush landscape, creating expansive spaces that frame stunning coastal views and define the home’s personality. This vacation home masterfully romanticises the natural surroundings, with each space thoughtfully crafted to ensure a seamless indoor-outdoor transition. The lanai, or portico, extends the entrance of the house into the lush Hawaiian outdoors, seamlessly integrating with the landscape. Comprising natural materials and comfortable furnishings, the space is both delicate and welcoming, well-equipped to provide comfort to its residents even in the tropical climate.

Another sensory delight is the master bath. “When designing it, we knew it had to be storybooklike— an adventure from a sleek indoor soaking tub to an outdoor standing shower enveloped in a private jungle-like setting. The bath turns a simple task like bathing into a wholesome experience where one is connected to nature. Being engulfed by nature is like forest bathing at home—a truly immersive experience spatially, spiritually, and psychologically. The tango of textures, from smooth stone surfaces to lush greenery, stretches the boundaries of what’s possible in residential spaces. The lanai and master bath are our favourite spaces for designing sylvan architecture and high-end luxury.” Explains Sanjana Paramhans .

One Ocean is as much a place for reflection as it is for relaxation. The home is adorned in sandy neutral colours and rich wood tones that soothe the mind. Custom finishes like natural stone, handcrafted wood, and sleek artisanal metal accents are pleasing to the eye and elevate the visual experience. Bespoke furnishings—thoughtfully curated and designedprovide a perfect balance of comfort and style. Personalised furniture endorses collective spaces, conversations and memories the family will make for a lifetime. “We accentuated sweeping ocean views and unbelievable scenery with the perfect lighting fixtures and ambient lighting. Each space in the vacation home is treated with the utmost love and care. Each space is an ultimate retreat within a retreat.

True luxury comes with a deep understanding of how well a home will age. Natural stones, weatherresistant woods, premium finishes, and quality workmanship ensure the home withstands Hawaii’s harsh tropical climate of humidity, salty air and relentless sunlight. We intended for the materials in this vacation home to develop a patina over time, aging beautifully and authentically, as its owners. Designing a home for its context proves to be intelligent years after the home is built. That is when the home finds its space on the ground where it is constructed and claims it as its own.

“The cherry on the cake is that the owners of OneOcean are repeat clients of White Noise Design Studio. Our client-architect relationship has deep roots, dating back to the first 2-bedroom apartment we designed for this family, who immediately connected with our design sensibilities. A beautiful relationship blossomed from that initial project, and when the idea of a Hawaiian vacation home was presented to WNDS, it was done with great reverence. A home that is lovingly crafted with an understanding of the family’s lifestyle, mutual preferences, meticulous attention to detail, and a sense of luxury is one that will only grow more beautiful with time.” Says Utsav Shah.
