Kaunteya Introduces PEETAL, a Brass Tableware Collection Inspired by Indian Heritage

Luxury Indian tableware brand Kaunteya has introduced PEETAL, a collection of hand-painted brass tableware that celebrates India’s rich cultural heritage, folklore and artistic traditions. Featuring two distinctive designs, Aana and Kamal Talai, the collection brings together traditional storytelling and contemporary living, transforming everyday dining into a more considered experience.

The Aana design draws inspiration from Ana Kotta in Kerala, a place where elephants have been cared for across generations. Deeply woven into the region’s culture and daily life, these majestic animals are celebrated through hand-painted motifs that capture their strength, calmness and quiet presence, complemented by the warmth and timeless appeal of brass.

The second design, Kamal Talai, takes inspiration from Indian folklore and the imagery of Krishna Leela. Evoking a full-moon night, the design depicts Lord Krishna embarking on a Nauka Vihar with Radha and the gopis, gliding across a pond filled with blooming lotuses. Translated into hand-painted brass, the composition brings a romantic, mythological narrative to the dining table.

The PEETAL collection comprises a coordinated dinnerware range, including a thaali set, soup bowl, snack plate, serving bowl, glass and spoons. Each piece reflects Kaunteya’s philosophy of reinterpreting India’s cultural and artistic vocabulary through objects designed for contemporary homes.

Commenting on the collection, Sonal Jetha, Founder of Kaunteya, says, “For us, these are not merely motifs on tableware. They are symbols that have lived within our culture for generations, now reinterpreted as objects for everyday living. Our hope is that each piece feels like a little piece of India, something to use, cherish and eventually pass on as an heirloom.”

With PEETAL, Kaunteya continues to explore the intersection of heritage, craftsmanship and modern living, creating tableware designed to be collected, cherished and passed down through generations.
