Designed by Karishma Mehta Design, Scarlet at Mani Square reimagines the modern café as a sophisticated urban sanctuary that effortlessly blends contemporary dining with timeless elegance. Conceived as a vibrant social destination, the space transitions seamlessly from a lively daytime café to an intimate evening dining venue, offering guests an inviting setting to connect, unwind and celebrate.
At the heart of the design is a vision to create an atmosphere that feels warm, comfortable and luxuriously understated. Every detail has been carefully curated to evoke a sense of refinement without overwhelming the senses, resulting in interiors that are both visually engaging and inherently welcoming.
The spatial planning was driven by the need to create multiple dining experiences while maintaining a seamless flow throughout the café. Distinct seating zones have been strategically arranged to accommodate everything from intimate conversations to larger gatherings, ensuring flexibility without compromising comfort. Thoughtfully designed circulation pathways allow effortless movement for both guests and staff, enhancing operational efficiency while preserving the café’s open and inviting character.
Inspired by the charm of modern European cafés, the material palette combines rich textures and warm finishes to create depth and visual interest. Natural stone, textured surfaces, warm wood accents, plush upholstery and metallic detailing work together to achieve a harmonious balance between sophistication and comfort. Scarlet’s signature hues anchor the interiors, while earthy neutrals and muted tones lend the space a timeless, contemporary aesthetic.
Working within a mall environment presented unique design challenges, particularly in terms of spatial limitations and integration with the existing architectural framework. Rather than allowing these constraints to dictate the design, the team transformed them into opportunities through strategic zoning, bespoke interventions and the thoughtful use of reflective and layered materials. These design solutions maximise the perception of space while preserving Scarlet’s distinctive identity.
Lighting plays an integral role in defining the café’s ambience. A carefully layered lighting scheme combines ambient, accent and decorative lighting to create warmth and visual depth throughout the interiors. During the day, the space feels bright, airy and welcoming, while softer illumination in the evening transforms Scarlet into an intimate and immersive dining destination. This adaptability enhances the overall guest experience, allowing the atmosphere to evolve naturally throughout the day.
Adding to the café’s distinctive character are several bespoke design elements that reinforce its unique identity. Custom-designed furniture, curated artworks, statement lighting installations and signature interior details have been thoughtfully integrated to establish a cohesive design language. These tailored interventions introduce layers of visual storytelling while creating memorable moments within the space.
Throughout the project, Karishma Mehta Design maintained a careful balance between aesthetics and functionality. Beyond crafting a refined and memorable environment, equal importance was placed on durability, comfort, ease of maintenance and operational efficiency. Every design decision—from seating layouts and material selection to service circulation and integrated storage—was meticulously considered to support both the guest experience and the practical demands of daily operations.
