Rishaba by Empatio Architecture, strikes an interactive chord with its employees.

Rishaba a suave office in Chennai, designed by Empatio Architecture, strikes an interactive chord with its employees through its bold and vibrant identity.

Rishaba in Chennai, Tamilnadu is a 4,000 sq. ft. office space designed to accommodate the upper echelon of a prominent 3rd generation export￾based company headquartered in Chennai. Envisioned by Chandhana Ramesh, Principal Architect, Empatio Architecture, as a space that carries out the clients’ requirement for a new-age, young, welcoming & vibrant identity – the elite office showcases the brand’s sensibilities and ideology to its international customer base.

Located one floor above the company’s existing offices, this new office space is dedicated specifically to the directors of the organization, with allocated areas to hold small-scale discussions, large team conference meetings and a segregated zone for the directors themselves. This space has an adaptive work layout that encourages brainstorming, casual discussions, and other collaborative engagements. The open floor plan, high ceilings & large windows that came with the shell structure were advantageous elements that allowed us to adopt a flexible work environment that is both bright and airy.

Chandhana says, “Accounting for the clients’ requirements, we came up with a floor plan segregated into 2 specified zones – A public zone which has the reception area, common lobby, meeting room and board room followed by the private zone dedicated especially to the directors for collaborative working and to entertain special guests. The energy of the brand is communicated throughout both these zones through hues of blue which make up the home color of the company.”

THE PUBLIC ZONE- Upon entry, the eyes are treated to the curving wooden wall partition that holds a relief of a dramatic Natraja deity, signifying the creative nature of the company. Elements with a soft yet distinct curvature fill the areas of visual perception, adding fluidity and a sense of drama arises from the subtle play between linear edges and empathizing curves. The soft curve in built seating areas, finished with lime plaster, creates a warm glow and gives a welcoming reception for their customers. The main conference room is filled with fun elements like the customized metal dichromatic chandelier, fluted TV wall with floating glass displays, live edge reclaimed wood resin table, built-in striped fabric seating and the central table area with a pebbled flooring.

THE PRIVATE ZONE- The director’s expansive zone is designed to be a fully equipped, exciting, flexible and a collaborative space, which can adopt both casual and formal engagements like small to large team discussions, brain storming, wall projections, spaces for product display and independent work desks for all the young directors. The space inherently reflects the clients’ love for colour, forms and vibrancy. “Fluidic wave form partition maintains the privacy of the directors’ workstations at the same time adds to the dynamic energy of the work environment. The varying levels and floor treatments were created consciously to assign visual boundaries to activities that may simultaneously take place in the otherwise large open area”, adds Chandhana.

The director’s dining is designed as a semi casual space with a subtle mural wallpaper, terrazzo flooring, ceiling adorned with modern bubble glass chandelier, warm wooden colors, and bold black accents on furniture. It has a fully equipped pantry and a dining space which can be used as an everyday dining area and double up as a hosting area for special guests. The Managing Directors cabin is designed as a modern functional space where textures and hues elevate the space. Cement finished grid wall, pale blue shelving units, customized wooden furniture with tinted black highlights and brass accent lights add up to the charm and appeal of this masculine space.

The workstation’s clean lines and simple undertones, create an inviting place that the employees can look forward to each day.

Designed by SAI Consultants, Sandipani School is shaped around an old Banyan tree, turning an existing natural element into the architectural and experiential heart of the campus. The Sandipani Vidyalaya Programme is a flagship initiative of the Government of Madhya Pradesh aimed at strengthening academic practices and school-level governance. Sandipani School, Shahpur, Burhanpur, is one of the 276 schools across Madhya Pradesh developed by SAI Consultants. “During our first site visit, we discovered the most precious design element already present on the site—a 70–80-year-old Banyan tree. We immediately knew that the entire concept and planning had to revolve around this Vat Vriksha. Rather than treating it as a landscape element, we envisioned it as the first classroom, the heart, and the soul of the campus.” Explains Ar. Mayooree Saxena, Founder and Principal Architect, SAI Consultants. The Kindergarten block is therefore not simply built around the tree, but designed for the tree. The Banyan becomes the central courtyard, assembly space, storytelling circle, and a living memory for generations of students. Kindergarten classrooms open directly onto the shaded courtyard, finished with a soft, non-slip rubber deck. A 6-metre radius around the trunk is maintained as a no-construction zone, protecting the tree and its natural drip line. Sand pits and outdoor chalkboards are integrated beneath its shade, transforming the courtyard into an informal learning environment. The campus is organized through a clear academic hierarchy. The front zone accommodates Kindergarten, administration, and parent waiting areas. Primary and Middle School occupy the lower floors, organized around internal courtyards, while the upper floors accommodate Secondary and Senior Secondary classrooms, laboratories, and the library. A dedicated service zone houses the midday meal kitchen, dining hall, staff facilities, and bus bay, ensuring service movement remains separate from academic circulation. A continuous shaded verandah forms a loop connecting the campus, allowing students to move comfortably while remaining protected from Burhanpur’s intense sun Learning & Community Spaces like Modern Biology, Physics, and Chemistry laboratories feature generous daylight, ventilation, preparation rooms, and island counters for collaborative experiments. The library is positioned opposite the Banyan, creating a symbolic balance—one tree provides shade, the other provides knowledge. Dedicated spaces for dance, music, and art encourage creative learning, while a 300-capacity dining hall, student-maintained kitchen garden, and colorful handwash courtyards integrate community, nutrition, and everyday learning. The multipurpose hall at the entrance accommodates large gatherings and two badminton courts, supported by an 8-metre-high column-free volume and acoustic treatments. Climate-Responsive Design-Responding to Burhanpur’s extreme summer temperatures of up to 45°C, the campus uses North–South orientation, 2.4-metre-deep verandahs, reflective terrace finishes, Kota stone flooring, and courtyard-based ventilation. Rainwater harvesting systems recharge groundwater around the Banyan, while its canopy creates a cooler microclimate within the Kindergarten zone. Sandipani School is not a school with a tree. It is a tree with a school growing around it. Children enter beneath its shade and graduate having grown like it—deeply rooted in values and reaching outward in knowledge.
