Amulette Art: Sophisticated Elegance Meets Innovative LED Design

Amulette Art, created by the design duo Bernhardt & Vella, is an elegant and understated lamp that seamlessly blends sophisticated design with advanced LED technology.

The goal behind Amulette Art was to investigate the unique effects of LED light as it filters through a slender, polished glass plate. The result is a lamp that exudes a strong visual presence while remaining subtly refined, offering a diffused light that complements sophisticated settings, particularly those with an Art Deco influence.

The success of this lamp is attributed to Ellen Bernhardt and Paola Vella, the German-Italian duo behind Bernhardt & Vella, who founded their studio in Milan in 2008. Their distinct style is evident in Amulette Art, which they describe as “reassuring and discreet elegance—a key element in many of our creations. We have translated this into a design that is pure, balanced in lines and shapes, and characterized by lightness and airiness. It reflects our more feminine side, blending gentle softness with contemporary pragmatism.” — Bernhardt & Vella

Their design process begins with thorough research and exploration, drawing inspiration from the world of art, historical design masters, and architecture. This research then informs their unique, recognizable style, which remains distinctly personal.

The lamp features a plate set in metal, reminiscent of a precious stone or lucky charm. Its sharp, perfect geometry and compact size highlight the meticulous finish of its engraved surfaces and the expressive quality of the metal.

The Amulette Art collection includes both an indoor suspension lamp and a wall lamp. The diffuser is crafted from ribbed glass with satin-finished edges, and the frame is available in glossy gold or black galvanized metal. The lamp operates on mains voltage for LEDs.
