Designed with neutral tones in an aesthetically pleasing contemporary set-up, The Tropical Paradise in Karnataka is a pretty picturesque home executed by Soni Vipul Designs.

Nested Udupi, Karnataka, ‘The Tropical Paradise’ is a dwelling that gracefully demonstrates the gusto with which muted colours can tint a home’s persona. Designed by Vipul Soni, Principal Designer, and Founder of Soni Vipul Designs, the homes neutral colour palate poses as an effectual thread which stitches a delicate map through the abode, tingeing each room with an individualistic identity while cohesively weaving the vast blueprint.Spanning a generous site area of 18,000 sq. ft., the designed home covers a built-up area of 14,200 sq. ft.

The ‘Tropical Paradise’ project was inspired by a client’s vision for modern, warm, and inviting interiors, perfect for a close-knit, multi-generational family. The concept was to create a high-end luxury home infused with Vastu principles, aiming to elevate well-being and foster a positive ambiance within the living space. Explaining the clients brief, Vipul says, “The Tropical Paradise stands as a testament to our firm’s ability to reimagine spaces and create a harmonious fusion of design elements.This project integrates a modern and luxurious interior design theme, with a primary focus on fostering a warm and hospitable ambience to strengthen familial bonds within the multi-generational household.The family’s brief intended a Contemporary approach aligned with principles of Vaastu where subdued hues and textures played a dynamic role.”The design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also thoughtfully incorporates Vastu principles as a strategic approach to enhance positive energy and contribute to the psychological well-being of the residents. Balancing modern luxury with traditional principles, the space exudes elegance while ensuring a comfortable and positively enriched living experience for the entire family.

The living area is a capacious and well-lit space, capable of accommodating up to 35 people. Notable features include a dedicated tea zone with Statuario marble for the elderly and an artfully carved sandalwood sculpture. Transitioning to the dining area, there are two kitchens – a sophisticated and functional one for daily use and an opulent modern kitchen equipped with high-end appliances, perfect for hosting guests. The puja area embodies a South Indian aesthetic, characterised by wooden elements, intricate carvings, and the warm glow of a traditional Kuthuvilakku lamp. Moreover, the entertainment room draws inspiration from Avatar, featuring a home theater adorned with Pandora hanging lights and champagne gold accents.

The residence comprises three bedrooms, each reflecting the style and elegance befitting the ladies of the house. The bathrooms are a continuation of the sophisticated design language found throughout the rest of the home. Furthermore, the home outdoors showcases a tropical theme emphasising the bar area with blue elements, creating a vibrant ambience. Vipul further adds, “The property in its entirety boasts a fully-equipped spa, a relaxation-focused salon, a fitness area completes with a designated yoga space, and a thoughtfully designed office catering to the needs of the elderly. Every space seamlessly integrates, contributing to the overall opulence and functionality of this remarkable home.”

The colour palette woven throughout the entirety of the home is a thoughtful blend of hues designed to create a harmonious and sophisticated vibe. “Neutral tones dominate, with a predominant use of white, symbolising tranquillity and peace”, informs Vipul. Pearl white is strategically incorporated to evoke a sense of affluence and elegance, contributing to an overall luxurious atmosphere. The aspect of timelessness reigns supreme and is achieved through the inclusion of Onyx marble, offering a striking and enduring aesthetic. “Classic elements are introduced through wood carvings and metallic accents, with champagne silver, and gold taking center stage. These accents add a touch of opulence, infusing the space with a timeless and refined character”, Vipul informs. For the middle generation, tans and browns are introduced, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Additionally, peach tones are artfully integrated, specifically chosen to resonate with the feminine energy of the women in the household. “This carefully curated palette not just ensures visual cohesion but also imbues each space with a unique and purposeful character, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the home”, saysVipul. 

The material palette employed in this project is a testament to modern sophistication and curated elegance. Modern bespoke furniture and cutting-edge light fixtures set the tone, infusing contemporary flair throughout the space. Carefully curated art pieces add a personalised touch, contributing to the overall aesthetic. The use of premium materials includes Statuario marble and Onyx marble, lending a timeless and luxurious feel. Sandalwood and intricate wood carvings introduce traditional elements, creating a harmonious blend of the classic and the contemporary. Moreover, the inclusion of champagne silver and gold metals adds opulence and refinement to the overall design, ensuring a cohesive and visually striking material palette. As far as lighting is concerned, the design approach likely involves a thoughtful combination of ambient, task, and accent lighting tailored to different areas. This versatile lighting strategy ensures a well-balanced illumination throughout the space, addressing both functional needs and aesthetic enhancements in various zones of the home.

Vastu principles have been seamlessly incorporated throughout the design, prioritising positive energy flow and psychological well-being. Every aspect of the project is thoughtfully aligned with Vastu guidelines, ensuring a harmonious and balanced living environment for the residents. Sustainability being the need of the hour, the team at SoniVipul Designshas managed to adhere to the same quiet effectively. “In addressing the imperative of sustainability, our approach revolves around the implementation of soft passive strategies. Natural light and ventilation play integral roles, harmonising with the design to minimise reliance on artificial resources. The integration of an indoor landscape further contributes to the sustainable ethos, fostering a connection with nature within the living environment”, concludes Vipul.
