Located in the vibrant city of Ahmedabad, India, ZAURA Boutique is a testament to the innovative approach of R+R Architects. Spread across a sprawling area of 1600 ft², this jewellery boutique redefines the retail experience through its nature-inspired design. The boutique was completed in the year 2023, with the talented duo Ramesh Lohar and Bindi Shah leading the project. The architecture and interior design of ZAURA Boutique serves as a beacon of inspiration for those seeking to infuse natural elements into commercial spaces.
ZAURA Boutique’s layout is meticulously planned to facilitate an effortless journey for its visitors. The space is divided into a welcoming lounge area and an elegant show area, connected through an open layout to foster a sense of spaciousness. This strategic division allows customers to navigate the boutique seamlessly, offering an immersive shopping experience. Explaining the design layout of the space, Ramesh Lohar, Founder & Partner, R+R Architects, says, “These rooms are connected in an open layout, creating a spacious experience. The interior architecture of the boutique takes inspiration from stone caves, adopting a minimalist approach. Sculpted, fluid walls and strategic lighting are used to create a space that feels uncluttered and organic. The walls are covered with a bespoke texture that resembles travertine stone. The display elements in the boutique are inspired by raw rock formations and are custom-made from metal, fiberglass, and glass.” Bindi Shah, Partner & Interior Designer further adds, “To break up the textures, the lounge area features soft carpets, plush upholstery, and a mirror with rock details attached. Every aspect of the boutique, from the plinths to the furniture and décor, was designed and executed in-house.”
Custom-made display elements inspired by raw rock formations are crafted from metal, fiberglass, and glass, blending functionality with artistic expression. The lounge area contrasts these textures with soft carpets, plush upholstery, and a mirror detailed with rock elements, creating a harmonious balance between ruggedness and comfort. Even the bathroom in ZAURA Boutique adheres to the store’s nature-inspired theme, featuring natural shapes and intricate stone work complemented by soft lighting. This careful attention to detail ensures that every corner of the boutique contributes to the overall organic atmosphere.
The goal was to design an interior that exceeds mere display purposes, instead, guiding customers on an immersive and ongoing experience. The project, serves as a source of inspiration, illustrating the profound impact of natureinspired design in modern retail environments.
