Gaylord 2.0, the esteemed restaurant at Churchgate, reopens its doors with a captivating transformation that blends old-world charm with contemporary elegance. This iconic dining destination, established in 1956 by partners Ghai & Lamba and now stewarded by Dhruv & Divij Lamba, has undergone a meticulous redesign. Spearheaded by Headlights Studio from Delhi, the new interiors pay homage to Mumbai’s colonial-era heritage. The ambiance features a Parisian outdoor patio, colonial architecture, and vintage décor adorned with historical artefacts and intricate chandeliers. The walls are adorned with over 150 original black-and-white photographs, including iconic figures like Raj Kapoor and Lata Mangeshkar, curated by Blueprint 12 from Delhi.
Sidharth Srivastava, Design Principal at Headlights Studio, describes the redesign as a harmonious blend of history and modernity. The space aims to enchant guests with its lavish yet cozy atmosphere, promising an immersive journey through Mumbai’s rich cultural tapestry.
Gaylord’s renewed space not only preserves its storied legacy but also introduces a vibrant new menu. Patrons can savor a blend of traditional and innovative dishes, from the renowned Sahib Full English breakfast to contemporary creations like Lobster Thermidor and Veg Au Gratin. The culinary experience is complemented by a curated cocktail menu featuring colonial-inspired drinks such as the Gaylord Cucumber Collins and The Royal Mysore.
Dhruv & Divij Lamba express their commitment to honoring Gaylord’s 67-year heritage while embracing the future. They invite patrons to indulge in this cultural revival, celebrating the city’s history and culinary delights amidst an ambiance that resonates with warmth and nostalgia.
