This residence in Bengaluru, designed by Supriya Khamkar of Earthy Shades, blends luxury with experimental design.

A captivating beauty emerges from the simplicity that defines this Bengaluru home, where every element is thoughtfully curated. The understated luxury gracefully unfolds through the curves and corners, creating an atmosphere that feels both refined and inviting. Each space is a testament to the elegance of minimalism, with subtle details that echo sophistication and timeless charm. Crafted across 1,600 sq. ft., this home designed by Supriya Khamkar, Founder and Creative Head, Earthy Shades, the home basks in the simplicity of vibrant colours alongside a calming combination of comfort and functionality.

Supriya Khamkar, a visionary entrepreneur believes that every space is more than just a project it’s a backdrop to the life story of the people who live in or use that space. Her approach emphasizes creating designs that reflect individuality and radiate positivity, ensuring each project is both meaningful and inspiring. This project is not just a design endeavour; it is a journey towards crafting a sanctuary that celebrates the beauty of minimalism with statement-making elements. Sharing the client’s requirement, Supriya says, “The client’s brief was to design a colourful house, ensuring every corner was aesthetically pleasing. He wanted each space to stand out artistically and was open to experimenting with diverse forms and colours, which gave us the freedom to explore creative ideas.”

This project beautifully adapts modern European themes for contemporary urban living. The clean lines, muted tones, and artistic highlights transform this 3BHK apartment into a luxurious retreat amidst the hustle and bustle of Bengaluru. “The interiors embrace a contemporary aesthetic with clean lines, a bold colour palette, and an intricate play of textures. The design strikes a perfect balance between functionality and elegance, creating a timeless and inviting living space”, informs Supriya.

Enhanced with printed tiles and a large textured canvas painting on the wall, the entrance lobby sets the tone for the home. The living room radiates elegance with its harmonious blend of white, green, and black tones. The white sofa balances out the boldness of the green backdrop while allowing its character to shine. The patterned veneer behind the LCD unit enhances the wall, adding a distinct touch to the space. The mandir is designed to match the interiors, featuring white marble interiors and PU-finished shutters. “It’s placement in the northeast corner aligns with Vastu principles, enhancing the spiritual aura of the space,” adds Supriya.

A Floral-patterned ceiling crowns the dining area, adding an artistic touch to the space. The highlight, however, is the printed laminate on the door behind the dining area, which adds a vibrant and unique visual element. This creative use of materials lends a stylish touch to the dining area. Another highlight of the dining area is the stunning Buddha partition, a masterpiece that brings a sense of tranquillity to the space. Serving as both a beautiful divider and a functional element, it separates the dining area from the open kitchen seamlessly while maintaining a cohesive flow. This exquisite feature truly elevates the aesthetics of the home. The kitchen follows the same colour palette as the living room, featuring printed black and white tiles.

The master bedroom is a serene retreat, highlighted by a hand-painted 3D embossed MDF panel that adds depth and artistry to the space. This statement wall, paired with a striking pink upholstered bed, creates a sophisticated yet cosy atmosphere. The bed stands out while blending seamlessly with the room’s neutral palette. To subtly separate the dressing area, a distinct ceiling design adds character and defines the zone without disrupting the room’s cohesive flow. The kids’ room exudes energy and playfulness. Digital prints on the walls add a personal and creative touch, making it a fun and inspiring space for children, while the parents’ bedroom adopts a calming royal blue and white colour palette. A LCD panel designed in a brick pattern adds texture and charm, while brown-toned veneer complements the curtains.

Supriya further continues, “During the design process we have incorporated a mix of high-quality materials to enhance the home’s aesthetics and functionality. PU paint has been used throughout for a refined finish, while the kitchen cabinets feature lamination for durability and style. The lobby and kitchen have been adorned with vitrified tiles, and the countertops showcase full-body tiles with a marble print for an elegant touch. We have also used artistry veneers to add richness to the design. Additionally, digital wallpapers add character to the interiors, and the upholstered beds contribute to the overall comfort and luxury of the space.” “As far as lighting is considered, warm-toned lighting is incorporated in living spaces and bedrooms to create a soothing and inviting environment, while brighter lights are used in functional areas like the kitchen for practicality,” says, Supriya.

Sustainability being the need of the hour, the team has managed to adhere to the same and have made several conscious choices to minimize environmental impact. They have carefully selected eco-friendly materials, such as sustainable wood and low-VOC paints, ensuring that they not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also contribute to a healthier living environment. Additionally, energy-efficient lighting solutions, including LED fixtures, have been used throughout the space to reduce energy consumption. The team has also prioritized the use of durable, high-quality materials that ensure longevity, reducing the need for frequent replacements and waste.

“Every project at Earthy Shades is a true team effort. This masterpiece project was seamlessly managed by Kuchipudi Poojitha Lakshmi, an integral part of Earthy Shades, whose coordination and expertise ensured its success,” concludes Supriya.

A deck of serenity between the bustling life of the city of Bengaluru, this home holds a distinctive contemporary flair, while serving a grounded yet functional purpose.
