Designed by Storeyboard Design, “The Gilded Nest” in Bengaluru is a harmonious fusion of luxury and functionality, crafted with meticulous attention to detail
It is an art to transform a house into a home. Storeyboard Design was entrusted to work with a family who trusted their design vision completely. “The Gilded Nest” was a labor of love, dedicated to creating a perfect sanctuary for the clients and their little one. Recalling the client’s brief Swathy Sivaraman, CEO & Principal Architect, Storeyboard Design says, “Our client wanted a luxurious yet functional home that maximized spaciousness, especially in the kitchen and living areas. The vision included a cohesive, luxurious style with a soft, muted golden palette to bring warmth and sophistication.”
Located in Bengaluru, the central design theme of this home that spreads across 2300 sq. ft. is modern luxury with a soft, muted golden hue that runs consistently throughout the home. “This choice reflects understated elegance while adding warmth and cohesion. Golden accents appear in everything from the textured walls to the handles on cabinetry and profiles on furniture, providing continuity and sophistication”, adds, Swathy. The theme is evident in the material choices— textured golden walls, soft beige upholstery, and light fixtures with subtle metallic finishes that cast a warm glow. In the living area, the custom deconstructed sofa with integrated side tables features subtle golden accents. The master bedroom continues this luxurious palette with veneered panels and a travertine-inspired bed-back, complemented by a functional glass-shutter wardrobe that enhances the room’s ambiance while maintaining the golden undertone. This seamless colour palette provides continuity across spaces, from the guest room’s seagreen silk-inspired wallpaper to the playful tones in the kids’ room.
The living area has been extended to include the balcony, making the room feel airy and expansive. The kitchen, with its beige and gold palette, has been extended into the utility area to create a spacious, well-equipped environment for baking. The island provides ample counter space, while storage solutions are cleverly tucked away to keep the area organized and visually clean. “We included bench seating in the dining area, which can double as a cozy work-from-home space, reflecting both utility and versatility”, informs Swathy. The master bedroom reflects the luxury theme with golden hues, featuring a travertineinspired bed-back panel and a rich veneer finish on the walls. A blend of playfulness and subtlety, the kids’ room includes an arched headboard and a pop of colour with a striking blue curtain. Ample storage is built into the design, with rounded corners for safety and functionality. The guest room features soft sea-green hues and a silk-inspired wallpaper, with a wooden fluted bedback that enhances the cozy, inviting ambiance. Each bathroom carries forward the theme with textured tiles and sophisticated storage solutions. The pooja room is integrated with the LCD unit and features a fluted glass pocket door, allowing it to transition seamlessly between private and open settings as needed.
The main challenge was working around the structural column in the center of the living room. “Rather than allowing it to disrupt the flow, we incorporated it into the design with finishes that minimized its visual impact, allowing the room to feel open and harmonious. Additionally, creating a spacious kitchen with ample storage in a limited layout required careful planning. By extending into the utility area, we achieved a larger kitchen footprint. These strategic design choices allowed us to deliver on the client’s vision of spacious luxury, despite the layout constraints”, concludes Swathy.
