Ar. Anuj Sharma and Purva Saksena have designed Nidhi, a contemporary bungalow that fuses luxury, functionality, and smart design, maximizing natural light and outdoor living.
Ar. Anuj Sharma and Purva Saksena, Principal Architect, 656a Studio has designed Nidhi a contemporary bungalow that meticulously takes advantage of its westfacing orientation, creating an ideal living space that blends aesthetic appeal with functional design.

Elaborating on the design and space planning Ar. Anuj Sharma explains, “The client requested a modern, functional, and luxurious west-facing bungalow that maximized natural light, ventilation, and outdoorindoor living integration. The focus was on energy efficiency, contemporary aesthetics, and smart home technology, with an emphasis on creating distinct yet cohesive indoor and outdoor spaces.”

This bungalow features a prominent large projection that extends the indoor living area outward, crafting a versatile and sheltered space perfect for outdoor living. This projection provides critical protection from the harsh afternoon sun, allowing residents to comfortably enjoy the outdoors in a space that seamlessly transitions between the interior and exterior environments.

A striking element of the design is its double-height glazing in the formal sitting room, which enhances the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. This expansive glazing floods the interior with abundant natural light, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere while framing breathtaking views of the sunset. This design not only maximises the visual connection to nature but also enhances the bungalow’s energy efficiency by reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day while maintaining the temperature by using laminated glass on the west side. Each private terrace is thoughtfully positioned to offer individualized outdoor experiences, balancing optimal sun exposure, ventilation, and privacy, ensuring that every space within is both comfortable and functional.

Providing insights into the materials chosen for this project, Purva Saksena, says, “The exterior artfully combines natural and industrial materials, featuring exposed brick cladding, warm wood ceilings, sleek glass panels, and rugged exposed concrete. This blend creates a visually dynamic facade that balances the natural warmth of wood and bricks with the sleekness of glass and the raw texture of concrete, resulting in a modern and sophisticated appearance.”

On the interiors, the bungalow showcases contemporary materials such as textured concrete walls, metal & hardwood staircases, and natural stone finishes. Open plan main floor with a double height living room, spacious bedrooms and the glass ceiling walk-in wardrobe, all contribute to an ambiance of modern luxury. The design emphasizes high ventilation and air circulation, ensuring a healthy living environment. State-of-theart facilities, including smart home technology and high-end appliances, are integrated throughout the home, providing both comfort and efficiency. The interiors reflect a commitment to contemporary style, with clean lines and a neutral color palette along with pockets of vibrancy like the bold red main door, electric blue and white kitchen and luxe green master suite.

Overall, the project stands as a harmonious fusion of contemporary architecture, functional luxury, and thoughtful design, making it an ideal example of modern living.
